Welcome to the park at NMBU
One of Norway’s most beautiful parks is here at campus Ås. The area is open to everyone and is used both as a recreational area and for teaching at the university. The park plan was made by Olav L. Moen in 1924, and the facility is one of Norway's most significant neoclassical parks. The University Park consists of park environments established in various stages from the establishment of the university in 1859 until today and has a significant botanical collection. Large parts of the park are protected.
The park is approximately 800 acres and contains approximately 1,200 different shrub and tree species.
In addition, there are annual and
perennial plantings.
The North Forest is also part of NMBU's areas and includes several Norwegian and foreign forest tree species. Unfortunately, picking flowers, leaves, seeds or twigs in the University Park is not allowed. Disposable barbecues are also prohibited, and dogs must be on a leash. The campus is also car-free.
Search for plants
Are you looking for a specific plant and wonder if and where you can find it in the park or in Nordskogen? You don’t have to fill in all the boxes, just write the plant’s name, scientific or Norwegian common name, and click Search. You can also search for a specific garden area and see which plants you can find there.
